XMMS is a player which the new generation of Linux users have seem to forgotten. For the Linux users who are just adjusting with the new KDE/Gnome interface and still are not ready to leave their favourite player WINAMP, this is for you. XMMS is a very light song player which will open up in your first click and thus unlike the heavy players like Songbird.

Here is how you can install the XMMS player in Ubuntu 9.10

sudo gedit /etc/apt/sources.list &

At the end of the text file , add the following

deb http://www.pvv.ntnu.no/~knuta/xmms/karmic ./
deb-src http://www.pvv.ntnu.no/~knuta/xmms/karmic ./

Save and Exit the editor.

Type the following in command line

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get install xmms
